US President Donald Trump signed an executive order granting a 75-day grace period for the TikTok ban. He also expressed hope for a deal that would allow the US to acquire 50% of TikTok's shares and impose certain regulatory measures.

With half of its stake held by the US, Trump estimated that TikTok's market value would reach US$1 trillion. If China does not approve the deal with TikTok, he warned that tariffs may be imposed on China.

However, whether Trump's latest executive order is sufficient to halt the ban remains uncertain. According to the law, extending the ban's grace period is only possible if the President can demonstrate to Congress that a viable agreement is progressing, or if substantial progress has been made and a legal agreement with ByteDance can be signed within the new timeframe.
