The HSI settled the midday down 45 points or 0.2% at 24,727. The HSCEI fell less than 1 point to 8,882. The HSTECH dropped 6 points or 0.1% to 5,446. The total market turnover at midday shrank to HKD119.797 billion.

Meituan, Taobao Instant Commerce, Ele.me, and JD.com issued statements calling for a boycott of disorderly competition. BABA-W (09988.HK) gained 2.3%, MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) swelled 2.2%, and JD-SW (09618.HK) rose 1.4%.

Logistics stocks were hyped up. ZTO EXPRESS-W (02057.HK) and J&T EXPRESS-W (01519.HK) mushroomed 8.6% and 4.7%, while SF HOLDING (06936.HK) and JD LOGISTICS (02618.HK) rallied 2.1%.

TENCENT (00700.HK) inched down 0.5%. NTES-S (09999.HK) and BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) lost 0.9% and 1.2%, respectively. SMIC (00981.HK) and KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) receded 1.5% and 2.2%. KINGSOFT (03888.HK) and WEIMOB INC (02013.HK) waned 3.5% and 4.1%. CHINA RUYI (00136.HK) ebbed 1%. It announced a share placement at a nearly 4.5% discount to raise nearly HKD3.9 billion net.

Car maker NIO-SW (09866.HK) skyrocketed 9.1% to HKD37.95 at midday. The Onvo L90 is priced from RMB265,800, which Daiwa considered very attractive. The broker predicted that its monthly deliveries would exceed 10,000 units.

Meanwhile, XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) edged 0.2% higher. Xiaomi Auto is planning to add 18 new stores this month. XPENG-W (09868.HK) delivered 36,700 smart electric vehicles in July, setting a new record. Its stock price climbed 1%. BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) retreated 0.8% to HKD114.5. LEAPMOTOR (09863.HK) plunged 6.2%.
