Global EV Sales Gain Only 15% in Aug, Slowest Since Jan

Market research firm Rho Motion announced that global electric vehicle (EV) sales in August grew by 15% YoY to 1.7 million units, notching the slowest growth rate since January, reflecting escalated market competition, foreign media reported.

In China, EV sales in August mounted by only 6% to 1.1 million units, notably lower than the average monthly growth of 36% in the first half of the year.

However, Rho Motion indicated that with new funding support for subsidy programs and seasonal rebounds, China's EV sales are expected to remain robust in the fourth quarter.

In August, sales in the European market gained 48% to approximately 283,453 units, North American sales rose by 13% to 201,255 units, and sales in other regions globally surged by 56% to over 144,280 units.
