US President Donald Trump may still add a 100% tariff on Chinese goods by or before 1 November, contingent on China's next actions regarding the rare earth dispute, US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer stated in an interview with CNBC. He accused China of choosing to escalate trade tensions between the US and China, noting that the US cannot allow China to maintain a situation where it has veto power over the global high-tech supply chain. Greer also mentioned that Trump is still scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, but it depends on how the situation pans out. He does not want to make commitments, although a meeting between the leaders of the US and China is a reasonable arrangement if feasible. AASTOCKS Financial News Website: www.aastocks.com |
