Bessent Describes CN Rare Earth Export Curbs as Pulling Everybody Else Down

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in an interview with the Financial Times that China is attempting to weaken the global economy by imposing export controls on key technological resources.

China's moves over rare earths and other resources, as described by Bessent, are intended to pull everybody else down. If China aims to slow the global economy, he stressed that it will end up hurting itself the most.

Last Thursday (9th), China announced it won't allow rare earth exports to be used for overseas military purposes.
