Apple (AAPL.US) is preparing to expand its manufacturing operations in Vietnam to dabble into the smart home market and reduce reliance on China, Bloomberg reported, citing people with the knowledge of the matter. Apple intends to launch a series of new smart home devices next year, including indoor security cameras and smart home screens for controlling household appliances, sources divulged. Apple will purportedly join hands with BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) in the development of smart home screens and desktop robots, with BYD responsible for final assembly, testing, and packaging.
